Pre-money valuation

What is pre-money valuation?

Pre-money valuation is the estimated value of a company before new capital is added in a funding round. It is the figure that determines how large a share the investor receives for their capital.

How is it calculated?

Pre-money = Post-money − Invested amount. Alternatively: Pre-money = Price per share × Number of outstanding shares (before the issuance).
