Legal requirements vs Industry practice
Unlisted companies are not subject to the same legal requirements to publish quarterly reports as listed companies. Publicly, they essentially only need to file an annual report.
Information rights
As a co-owner you always have the right to:
- Attend the Annual General Meeting (or extraordinary general meetings).
- Ask questions to the CEO and board there.
- Often the company also provides more information continuously, for example through a quarterly shareholder update letter.
Smaller owners typically lack further influence over company operations, though larger owners may demand a board seat.
Summary
Less transparency than the stock market is normal. Ensure you read communications and vote at meetings if required.
